The Future of Urban Public Transportation in Venezuela
Description
Public ground transportation services. When used on a daily base, deterioration of this service
can be observed which is caused by long passenger lines, vehicles aging conditions, lack of
safety (traveling salesmen, drunk people), lack of signaling, lack of bus stops, bad treatment of passenger by the driver.
To tie the "social actors" of the system of urban public transport, that is to say: the state, providers of the service and the civil community, in order to define strategies to be followed in the design of different scenarios for the social and economic future of the integrated system of public transport in the metropolitan area of Caracas. Case Study: the transport line association Carmelitas- Chacaito, in a horizon of five years, in order to choose the best options for future Development, in order to carry out each step of the process in company of the social actors.
General Objectives
- To place the "social actors" of the urban public transport system (the state, the lenders of the service and civil
community) in the strategic analysis process.
- To design different scenarios for the social and economic future of the integral system of public transport in the
metropolitan area of Caracas for the pro-patria civil association, Carmelite, Chacaito, in a horizon of five years
according to its mission.
- To choose the best possible option for the future.
- To carry out this process in the company of the social actors.
Specific Objectives
- To identify strategic and critical elements of the analysis which characterize the actors of the public transportation system, and the causes which determine its current behavior.
- To identify scenarios prompting the evolution of the integral system of the public transportation in the metropolitan area of Caracas.
- To design scenarios prompting the development needs of the integral system of public transport in the metropolitan area of Caracas for the civil association, Carmelitas- Chacaito, in a horizon of five years.
- To select scenarios according to the hopes and yearnings of the social actors.
- To choose the organizational strategies that allow the integral system of public transport of the metropolitan area of Caracas, in the case of the civil association Carmelitas- Chacaito, to contribute and impel the development of the sectors deemed most competitive.
